“Operating independently of WorkSafeBC, the Workers’ Advisers Office is a branch of the Ministry of Labour providing workers, their dependents, and other stakeholders with free advice, assistance, representation, training, and mentoring with respect to workers’ compensation [WSBC] issues.”
If you, or someone you know, is having difficulty navigating a WSBC claim (or review/appeal), contact the Workers Adviser’s Office for assistance.
Here are some of the services they provide:
- Compensation Claims and Benefits – Managing a claim, third party claims, injuries occurring outside of British Columbia, late applications for compensation
- Specific Health Concerns – Chronic pain, hearing disorders, occupational diseases, psychological conditions, and mental disorders
- Wage-loss Benefits – Long-term wage rates, wage loss benefits, wage rates when claims are reopened
- Permanent Disability Benefits – Permanent disability awards, duration of benefits, lump sums and commutations, retirement benefits
- Reviews and Appeals – Reviews of WorkSafeBC decisions, appeals to Workers’ Compensation Appeal Tribunal, applications for extension of time
- Occupational Health and Safety – Worker rights and responsibilities, prohibited action complaints
- Foreign Workers – Workers in British Columbia who are neither citizens nor permanent residents of Canada, translated
