Did you know the VPD contracts Chaplain Jim Turner to provide chaplaincy services for all VPD employees? With over 30 years of police chaplaincy, Jim understands the unique stresses of the policing culture, whether sworn or civilian.
The blend of theological understanding from a multi-faith perspective, coupled with the unique understanding of the police lifestyle and culture, allows Jim to provide care with understanding. Chaplain Turner understands the need to provide a chaplaincy service to all employees of the VPD, regardless of the employee’s beliefs or background.
If there is a need to refer, then Chaplain Turner will find someone who will provide care with sensitivity to the particular needs of your faith, tradition, and the police mindset. The Chaplain is available to provide a variety of services:
- Take referrals from the Human Resources Section
- Provide appropriate counselling, preparation, and rehearsals for the weddings of VPD employees
- Bereavement and funeral services upon the request of the Chief Constable or his designate, for VPD employees, families, and retired employees.
Jim can be contacted at 604-833-6251 or jimtur17@telus.net.
